This beach is your typical tropical beach for a movie setting, complete with the pretty rock formation surrounding the place. Machine-Cut-like Rock Wall
The first thing you will notice from Atuh Beach Nusa Penida is the gigantic rock wall that isolating the beach from the outside world. Different from the many other rock wall or cliff in other beaches, rock wall here looks like had been cut by a machine. It has a 90-degree slope, perpendicular from the ground. Not only that, but the rock wall is also almost flat, made it does look like had been cut.
The Local Names
By the local this beach named as Batu Abah, Batu Melawang, Batu Paon, Bukit Jineng, and also Batu Bolong. These batu words in the names because the rock formation that scattered around the place, as batu is a local word for rock.
On the other hand, the word bukit means hill which these rock formations that formed as a hill. And the name of Batu Bolong or in English means hollow rock, which refers to a particular rock just little off the shore with a hollow at the middle.
White Sandy Beach
Atuh Beach Nusa Penida has a stretch of white sandy beach. Just like the typical tropical beach, but the one that you will never bored. From afar, the white of the sand looks like fusing with the rock wall. It feels like it was a pastel-colored picture added with some green of moss at the top of the rocks.
A Piece of Paradise on Earth
Overall view, the beach is like a fallen piece of paradise on earth. The crystal clear blue water looks in contrast with the white of the sand. Not to mention, the effort to discover this place does feel like trying to find long lost heaven.
You have to walk on a narrow path and steeps, for at least 20 minutes from where you park your car. Count yourself lucky if you come by motorbike, as the path can accommodate the vehicle.
Compared to the other beaches on the island, Atuh Beach Nusa Penida categorized as little developed. The path made from concrete and even the road leading to the beach paved. Not only that, but there are facilities, little huts along the beach, and food stalls.
And also, there is some hammock that hanging at some corner for the visitor to use to enjoy the view. But even with all of those, this place is not that crowded with tourist which is a plus.
